i mean this is fair, like if you like the project less now i completely understand and cannot fault you for it

but like the cool mysterious aura or whatever, i mean, that’s not me. like the very first song on the very first EP was basically just me reading out loud the spoken word equivalent of one of these tumblr posts. i make really personal art and make really personal songs and never really intended for the project to ever come across as impersonal or aloof. that it ever did was just the unintended result of me being insecure and me and josh preferring to leave things ambiguous rather than directly confront the discrepancies between what we each wanted out of it

at the end when we were having the last argument about it, josh said to me “this is happening because you need to make this about you.”

and i get where he’s coming from, i get that it being about me is a lot less interesting to him than whatever he perceived it to be about before, and i get that there are going to be a lot of people who agree with him.

but it has to be about something, and like, i write all the songs. what else is it going to be about?
